From Wiktionary under the GNU Free Documentation License. The term training refers to the acquisition of knowledge, skills, and competencies as a result of the teaching of vocational or practical skills and knowledge that relate to specific useful competencies. It forms the core of apprenticeships and provides the backbone of content at institutes of technology (also known as technical colleges or polytechnics). In addition to the basic training required for a trade, occupation or profession, observers of the labor-market recognize today the need to continue training beyond initial qualifications: to maintain, upgrade and update skills throughout working life. People within many professions and occupations may refer to this sort of training as professional development. Some commentators use a similar term for workplace learning to improve performance: training and development. One can generally categorize such training as on-the-job or off-the-job:
Training differs from exercise in that people may dabble in exercise as an occasional activity for fun. Training has specific goals of improving one's capability, capacity, and performance. Compare: From Wikipedia under the
GNU Free Documentation License What training should I start with for an 11 week old puppy? Q. We just got an 11 week old german shepherd puppy. She is already house trained. I was going to start with some simple stuff like getting used to the car also get some recordings of thunder or loud bass to remove future fear of it. But as far as training (sit, stay and so on...) what should I start with and when? Asked by John S - Wed Jul 30 20:39:11 2008 - - 11 Answers - 0 Comments A. Good start. If you dog is able to pay attention, you can work with 5 basic commands, sit, stay, down (lay down), heel and place. Give her the sit command, then help her to sit. Praise. Give her the heel command and start walking. Keep her right beside you and on the same side each time (your choice). Then stop with a sit command, and help her sit. Praise. Do this a few times. When she starts to get the hang of it, you can correct her. You can mix it with down command. To get her to go down, step on the leash and apply gentle pressure to start to get her down. Give her a hand command with that. Put the palm of your hand over her head (not on her head). The place command is helpful with visitors, or dealing with trouble, etc. … [cont.] Answered by Debcallico - Wed Jul 30 20:53:57 2008 What training would I need to become an air traffic controller? Q. I was just curious what the qualification and training involved is for air traffic controllers. I always thought it would be an awesome job. I do have a Bachelor's Degree in Mathematics and I'm working on Master's right now and will finish in May of '08. I know it's a stressful job, I was just wondering what training is needed. How could I find more information on this profession? Asked by daphnerst - Sat Jul 7 14:34:16 2007 - - 4 Answers - 0 Comments A. Bluntly math doesn't matter. The only math you need to know is that an airplane moving at 60 miles per hour moves one miles per minute...an airplane at 120 miles per hour moves 2 miles in a minute and so on. I can divide by 60, therefore my math is good enough... You have 3 options. You have to either a) get hired "off the street" b) do ATC in the military or c) go to a CTI (controller training initiative) school. Getting hired off the street you take the test called the AT-SAT. Its pretty much can you do basic math, read dials and how do you function playing what amounts to a video game. Passing the interview and the AT-SAT via the off the street route doesn't get you anywhere. They then take the succeful people and pick a… [cont.] Answered by Kevin - Sun Jul 8 03:05:44 2007 Who trains the dog in your family? Is every member of the family doing the same training?
Q. Who trains the dog in your family? Is every member of the family doing the same training? I really believe in training my dogs very consistently. How does your family treat your dog? Is everyone on the same page? Is it bad to have one person training the dog and others family members not? What is your experience? Asked by Top Cat - Sun Aug 16 20:33:21 2009 - - 7 Answers - 0 Comments A. It's just me and my boyfriend living together and he works a lot and the dogs pretty much ignore him. They have all been trained by me for the past 10yrs when i got the first. I don't think it is bad just having one person training, as long as the dog knows it's place at the bottom i don't see a problem. Obviously everyone in the household will need to be consistent with the dog and correct any inappropriate behavior. I believe the main training can be done by one person and not affect the dog or family negatively as long as it is done properly.
