The word professional traditionally means a person who has obtained a degree in a professional field. The term professional is used more generally to denote a white collar working person, or a person who performs commercially in a field typically reserved for hobbyists or amateurs. In western nations, such as the United States, the term commonly describes highly educated, mostly salaried workers, who enjoy considerable work autonomy, a comfortable salary, and are commonly engaged in creative and intellectually challenging work. Less technically, it may also refer to a person having impressive competence in a particular activity. Because of the personal and confidential nature of many professional services and thus the necessity to place a great deal of trust in them, most professionals are held up to strict ethical and moral regulations. GNU Free Documentation License What professional clothing can I wear in the heat? Q. I'm walking all over the city today soliciting grocery stores for a non-profit group. Obviously I want to look professional while doing this but the problem is it's supposed to be a sunny, hot, humid day (85F). Would it be acceptable to wear a sleeveless top with a knee length skirt? Any other tips to help me look polished without suffering in the heat? Thanks everyone. Asked by candied_arsenic - Sat Jul 8 07:11:56 2006 - - 5 Answers - 0 Comments A. Keep it cotton. Cotton breathes the most and is lightweight. You can look completely professional in a cotton blouse and skirt. Unfortunately to look professional hose are going to be a must. I always keep on hand those thigh high hose on hand that stay up by themselves. Trust me...they are much cooler. Answered by J Somethingorother - Sat Jul 8 07:19:22 2006 What are professional women looking for in a life coach? Q. I am a life and business coach. I worked as an attorney for twenty years. I believe that there are many boomer professional women out there that are well educated and have pursued their careers diligently. Now, about 15 to 20 years into it, they feel burnt out and they feel afraid. They rely on their jobs and the income it provides but they are not happy. I want to hear what issues they are facing and what is on their minds. Asked by throaty - Wed Sep 1 04:38:24 2010 - - 1 Answers - 0 Comments How do you become a professional dancer?
Q. To hip hop dancers, ballet dancers, any dancers, How did you become a dancer? While I am not planning to be a dancer, I am very interested to know how you become a professional. Like, what are the good dancing schools, how many years does training take, when did you start dancing, and so on. Also, what kind of career opportunities do different types of dancers have? If you are a professional dancer, or even if you are not, please post an answer. :) Not that kind of dance. Thank you for your answers. :) However, I would appreciate if more people posted their opinion on how many years of training is reasonable/typical and what kind of career opportunies are available. The biggest thing is to practice as much as possible and get yourself out there. Taking classes in various types of dance is important to find what you are good at and gain skill. But after that, a lot of it has to do with natural skill (not everyone can be a dancer) and motivation. It is a lot of hard work, as you spend hours practicing and have to regularly audition (to get your name out there and start performing). While I was trained in various dance forms, I currently choreograph and so I tend to make new moves and use different styles in my work, and I don't always use classically trained dancers because sometimes the best dancers are those who have the natural talent and had the motivation to learn on their own and keep trying.
