Q. how can it be done

A. I think I found the only escape, tell your bank to deny their drafts and transfer requests, or close out your acct and open a new one that they have no knowlege of, and send them a certified letter telling them that you are cancelling your membership, they may levy a charge for early cancellation but they don't want you if their not gettin paid good luck

I was ripped off by LA Fitness (sold a membership with gym exclusions). Anyone else have the same problem?
Q. I was sold a membership at the Eldridge Road & West Little York Gym and specifically requested a multi state all gym access. I tried to use the membership at what they call a signature club only to find out I had been sold a bill of goods & could not work out there unless I paid another $100 plus $20 per month. Look on the internet before you buy. This organization has more bad, disreputable stuff written about it than any health club I have belonged to in the past 20 years. I spoke with Shannon on the phone at corporate and she was the typical recording. I will be cancelling my membership & if you are smart you will not join this lying bunch of theives!

A. I made an appointment with LA Fitness and they wouldn't discuss anything with me until I filled out a form. I tried a second time and the same thing happened so I just gave it up as a hard sell racket. They advertised a low month by month membership and I couldn't pin them down. I'm not surprised by what happened to you. I am thinking about trying Curves.

A. I belong to 3 different gyms, all for different reasons and for different prices...here goes...Oh, and because the larger chains are franchised, the pricing may vary per area so shopping around is good. Many of them do week free passes and it's good to give them a trial. Bally's: I like their personal training 1 hour, 1 on one with assisted stretching at the end. I was an old member in high school and they offerred me a $99 per year deal which was great. In my area they have converted to a month to month for about $20-30/mo depending on what special you get in on. How Long Does It Take To See Results In Excersising in a gym?
Q. M buddy and I have just got interested in a local LA Fitness gym and purchased memberships. We don't have any weight problems and actually weigh less than we should. We want to build up our abdomens to a six pack. If we go to the gym every week Monday through Thursday, how long do you think it would take to see results?
Asked by DUDE - Fri Jan 16 00:21:29 2009 - - 5 Answers - 0 Comments
A. it depends on the intensity of your workout. If its extremely intense(going to muscle failure) then you should see some sort of results within a month or two, especially if you havent worked out before. If its just moderate exertion then it should be 2-3 months. Alot of my friends(who havent worked out before) have made 30-40 lb gains in 2-3 months on the bench. Keep with it and push yourself to the max, it'll come eventually. Totally worth it. Good luck.

How much is a base membership at LA Fitness on Staten Island?
Q. Does anybody have an idea of how much a base membership is for LA Fitness on Staten Island? Also, is this a co-ed gym? Thanks, Steve

A. Although I live in IL, I can tell you that they are always running deals...I got in at $29.99/month before the gym ever opened...they claim the regular rate is $49.99 a month with a $250 initiation fee. Yet, I always see them running specials. It is co-ed. Not sure what gyms you have there, but I find it's MUCH nicer than Ballys, but not as nice as Lifetime. I would like if they had a steam room and towel service.

What is the point in paying a last month's dues for a gym membership?
Q. I joined LA Fitness and they made me pay 2 dues up front - "first and last month's dues." From what I understand, after you cancel your gym membership, it doesn't "expire" until 30 more days - and the "last month's dues" cover this extended grace period. So what is the point in paying double dues up front?

A. The point is that the demanded it and you paid it. They have your money and you gave it freely

Can anyone tell me which is the best gym to go to: Bally's, 24-hr Fitness or LA Fitness?
Q. I want to get a gym membership, and I'm trying to decide between Bally's, 24 Hour Fitness and LA Fitness. Does anyone have any specific experiences, like membership difficulties, etc. involving any of these gyms? I go out of the country from a couple of months out of each year, so I need a gym that's flexible in that regard. By the way, I live in Los Angeles (Beverly Hills/West Hollywood area), in case anyone is familiar with the clubs specific to this area.

Ive never had any experience with LA Fitness, but I havent heard anything negative about it either. I am currently a member of 24hour fitness and I love it. But then again, its very convenient for me to go there (its a half mile from my home) and I have a wierd schedule and they work with me on that. If I were you, I would see about getting a 7 day pass from each place (not all for the same week of course) and keep a short journal of the pros and cons of each place...then make a decision that is best for you. work out there, get a feel for the place and its employees, and then choose based upon which gym… [cont.]

Can I get a gym membership in Washington State if I'm only 17?
Q. I'm about to turn 18 in a few months, but I want a gym membership to like LA fitness or Bally. If I can't sign the contract, can my mom sign for me for parental consent and permission? LA Fitness membership fee anyone?!?
Q. I'm looking to join a gym and am looking into LA Fitness. I'm wondering if anyone knows how much the monthly fee would be, particularly the LA Fitness in Woodland Hills, CA. I'm also curious as to what anyone thinks about the gym, i.e. if its clean, if there's a wait for any of the equipment, etc.

A. I go to the LA Fitness here in Portland, OR, and I really like it. Never ever is there a wait, though the classes, especially spinning gets pretty full quick. Very clean, and the price is great. We did pay 125.00 for two people as a fee in the beginning and pay now a monthly gym fee of 60.00 for two people. Which is pretty stinkin good when there is a pool, hot tub, sauna, and 5 raquet ball rooms included. The fee's and payment's may be alot different though there in Cali. I would call up the exact LA Fitness you will be using most of the time and meet with a instructor who will show you everything and see what you will be charged as well.

A. To make this a short and sweet answer, they can go pound sand. If a minor makes a foolish business decision out of immaturity or ignorance, the contract may be voided on the basis of a lack of capacity to contract. You were a minor when you signed the contract which is illegal for them to accept (unless your parents signed with you or you are legally emancipated. To make it short, the basic law is that a minor can back out of any contract at they wish (providing they are still a minor) and can not be help to the contract. You canceled, so it makes the contract null and void, and since it was not legally binding, they can not use the excuse it takes six months to cancel. Contact your state attorney generals office if they harass you. … [cont.]

A. The classes there are not very organized, but you can try them for yourself. Overall, the gym is very clean and easily accessible but it can get crowded at times

A. I don't know if you live by a fitness 19, but I go there. They don't have showers or locker rooms. But the equipment is really nice and new, also it's only $50 starting fee and then $19 a month after that.
